In 2008, Taylor's winemaker, David Guimaraens, learned of the existence of a very old rare Oporto aged port, dating from the period prior to the arrival of phylloxera to the Douro, a pest that destroyed most of the region's vineyards.
The Pintas 5G Century Old Port was produced in the late 19th century and has been accompanying the family for 5 generations for over 120 years. A family that knew how to pass on to the young the culture, tradition, knowledge and passion for the magnificent region that is the Douro
Quinta do Estanho has now launched a special edition to celebrate its 100 brand, an old port, which is already the fort of Quinta. With the best Old Ports Vintage and 40 years. This is without a doubt one of the bestports in the house.
This Barros it's 100 years old Special Edition Port Wine. Reveals silky in the mouth, fresh and fruity with honeyed dried apricots, citrus, sweet barley sugar and vanillin/cafe crème notes, this is undoubtedly an attractive wine. Persistent and really very drinkable
Taylor's Single Harvest are Ports from a single year which age to full maturity in seasoned oak casks and display the year of harvest on the label. Single Harvest 1964 was bottled only in 2014
Producer: C. da Silva Wooden box with 4 bottles of 375 ml (10, 20, 30 and 40 years old)
Mahogany tonality with greenish reflections. In the nose it has opulent and intense aromas, where spice notes such as cloves, curry and black pepper, notes of nuts with emphasis on hazelnut, figs, nuts always integrated with each other and combined with light sensations of coffee , chocolate and some molasses.
It is a wine that by its age, over 150 years, deserves to be "waited" for it in the glass to demonstrate its complexity in both aroma and mouth.
This 1858 Port Wine was produced and bottled by Domingos Ayres de Mattos (1829-1890) and saved by him. In 1969 and 2013 this wine was tasted bottle by bottle and what was clean tasting (almost all!) Was bottled again.
